It is fantastic to see people in Japan, where I have lived for nearly 30 years, standing up to Zionist racism and genocide. Asking guests who have been members of military organizations to sign a pledge declaring they have not committed war crimes is an excellent idea. The article states that the hotel manager has asked people from Russia, Ethiopia and Syria to sign the pledge. I wonder if he asks Ukrainians to sign it, too. What about Americans? No country in the world is responsible for more war crimes and crimes against humanity that the United States, not even "Israel". It is not close. If I managed a hotel, I would not want American war criminals as guests and more than "Israelis".

Guesthouse Wind Villa’s owner is 岸栄佑. The most likely transliteration of his name is “Kishi Eisuke” (in the Japanese order with family name first). I can’t be sure that his given name is pronounced “Eisuke” because there are multiple readings for this kanji. Anyway, when I searched google in Japanese using his name and the guesthouse name, there were only a few results on Twitter. Nothing else except for the Kyoto city hall list of hotels in the city. So zero results in the Japanese media quoting the owner regarding this “incident”. I can only conclude that either the Japanese media refused to cover it despite significant international interest, or google is hiding relevant results.

In Japan, only a relatively small percentage of people follow international news. But of those who do, I’m reasonably sure that a large majority are disgusted with Israel’s genocide in Gaza and support the Palestinian people.

I spelt his name in the same way he signed off when emailing me. I have heard that he and Jeronimo Gehres from the prior year’s hotel incident will be doing a podcast together that is expected to come out on CounterPunch soon. I will post it here on Substack if it happens.
